Seemingly out of nowhere, West London rapper Lord Apex has collaborated with Spanish producer Cookin Soul for a whole 11-track project called Off The Strength.
It feels like it was only yesterday that Lord Apex released Smoke Sessions 3, completing a trilogy with arguably the finest of the three, and the year before that he delivered another career high when he released Supply & Demand with NY producer V Don. In fact, since releasing his debut EP, Bamboo Forest—a collab drop with West Coast producer Walterwarm—in 2016, he’s released at least one project every year, so don’t rule out another full-length sneaking up on us before the end of this one.
On Off The Strength, Cookin Soul applies his nearly two decades of experience digging through rap history for project’s such as DOOM XMAS and Notorious BIG; his beats sound timeless, finding a sweet spot between crunchy boom-bap drums and Apex’s hazy rhymes for a truly captivating listen.
