Up until a few years ago, anyone looking at Norway’s finest musical exports might have only found a healthy serving of black metal. Now in 2014, there’s still a ton of that, but the Scandinavian country has also nurtured a strong and growing electronic music community. One name to really prosper out of that scene in recent years and sure to continue in the future is Fehrplay.
Mixing a unique style of house, disco, techno, and deep progressive sounds, Fehrplay has made himself into a star on the rise. Eric Prydz’ tutelage and co-sign has no doubt played a huge part of this, but now with releases set to come out on Ultra Music going forward, his star is only getting brighter. Here are 10 things you didn't know about Fehrplay, directly from the man himself.
I love Reddit!
I spend way to much time on there. The information stream of cool stuff is just endless. I find so much cool videos and pictures on there. If you wanna say "hi," my user name is Mjaff.
I sing on a lot of my own music
I twist and cut the vocal a lot, though, so it's hard to recognize. I sing on my latest single "Everywhere You Go."
I'm a sucker for jazz music and old swing
There's just something about the mood in an old swing record that really relaxes me.
When I was considering what to study five years ago, it was a choice between music and film
I'm very glad I chose music. I used to make funny weird movies with my friends from as early as 10-years-old until just a few years ago.
I pretty much have stage fright, and I hate going on the microphone
I've done it a couple of times, but after quite a few beers.
My friend Jayman came up with the name "Fehrplay"
I loved it straight away, and decided to stick with it.
I absolutely love the show "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia"
Charlie Kelly is such a legend.
I was an actor in a youth drama series on the national TV station NRK in Norway when I was a teen
I was very much considering whether I should put this in here or not. Looking back at the series now, it's very cringe-worthy.
I love Taco Bell
I know everyone says its really shit, but I love it. The volcano burito is the bomb!
I'm starting a new moniker for the more darker and deeper side of my production called "Moffe"
Moffe is actually my nickname in Norway. Expect some new stuff coming out soon!
