London rapper and Essie Gang frontman Octavian has been sending ripples through the music industry since the tail end of last year, and now he's finally come through with a debut mixtape in Spaceman. The 14-tracker is a well-woven one that carries a good balance of variety and energy, formed around the idea of us all being a part of space while having our own space. Some parts of the tape are dark and otherworldly, and will leave you feeling like you're out in the galaxy with no gravity.

The script then flips and tracks like "Break That" with Suspect and "54321" bring a more boisterous vibe to the surface. "Lighting" is a prominent component of the project; it's a high-voltage number with hints of electro-pop layered with the crisp, raspy tones of Octavian to form a wild end result, somewhat reminiscent of earlier releases "Party Here" and "Hands".
