As if music doesn't already have enough awards shows, Drake made an impromptu attempt at starting his own ceremony on social media. However, the Toronto rapper put a hilarious spin on his awards by naming them #HoodGrammys, as he gave out five to rising names like Bobby Shmurda, OG Maco, and his own OVO artist, iLOVEMAKONNEN.

Big Sean also made headlines this week after the Detroit rapper was photographed smooching pop star Ariana Grande while riding a roller coaster at Universal Studios Hollywood. Plus, Paula Patton filed for divorce from Robin Thicke, Jaden Smith and Vince Staples released new music, and Katy Perry was chosen to perform at next year's Super Bowl halftime show. Check out all that and more in What The Hell Just Happened In Music This Week?

Drake started his own awards ceremony by giving out #HoodGrammys on Instagram.

Date: October 5

Drake knows a thing or two about winning music awards. Along with receiving five each from the BET Hip Hop Awards and the Juno Awards over the last five years, Drake also earned a Grammy for Best Rap Album in 2013 for his sophomore album Take Care, a moment the Toronto rapper celebrated by drinking liquor straight out of the gold-plated trophy.

Because Drake is basically a seasoned vet, he has now taken it upon himself to give out his own awards via Instagram, which he's fittingly titled #HoodGrammys. iLOVEMAKONNEN, Bobby Shmurda, OG Maco, and more were honored in what we hope will be an annual event. —Edwin Ortiz

Daylyt tried to poop on stage during a rap battle.

Date: October 5

It's safe to say that things got pretty strange during Daylyt's battle rap matchup against Real Deal in Phoenix. According to BattleRap, The controversial battle MC kicked off the evening emerging from his dressing room full dressed in an all-black outfit with a cloak over his head before beginning the matchup. Fans apparently got tired of Daylyt's act quick and began to boo the MC during the early rounds while he kept his antics going, which included unveiling a fake decapitated head to go along with one of his lines.

As you might imagine, this didn't help Daylyt in the crowd's eyes and they continued to boo the MC as the battle went on, which prompted Daylyt to respond with, “If I hear two more boos, I'ma boo boo on stage.” The crowd of course continued to boo which lead Daylyt to pull down his pants and attempted to literally shit on stage during the event. Luckily for the other MCs and the crowd, security was able to stop Daylyt and escort him out of the building before he could actually pull off the stunt, which if you remember, he threatened to do during Eminem's “Total Slaughter” event over the summer. —Zach Frydenlund

Rumors about the cause of the couple's split have been swirling since the news broke, but it now looks like Mariah may have called Nick out for cheating during the show.

In the audio from the show, Mariah is heard singing a cover of Billie Holiday's “Don't Explain,” and if you listen closely enough, it sounds pretty clear that Mariah changed an important lyric in the song from, “And I know you cheat, right or wrong, don't matter,” to “I know you cheated, motherfucker.” Earlier this year, TMZ reported that Mariah and Nick had split up and were on a fast track for a divorce, though that hasn't been finalized as of yet. —Zach Frydenlund

Jay Z had a hilarious run-in with a videographer in Paris.

Date: October 7

Even though he has to constantly reintroduce himself in some of his most popular songs, there are a surprising number of people who act like they don't know who Jay Z is. While on vacation with Beyoncè and Blue Ivy in Paris, security told tourists and onlookers not to take video as the family passed by. One person behind the camera sarcastically asks “who is he?” towards Jay, prompting Hov to respond with a shade-filled “who are you!?” Thankfully, the videographer realized he was out of his league, and left the Carters alone to enjoy sightseeing the beautiful city. This incident just proves that even off the mic, Jay still has the ability to make things super ugly. —Justin Davis

Jaden Smith continued his fantastic musical streak with "Fast" and "Melancholy."

Date: October 9

Jaden Smith has been on a musical streak as of late that can't be stopped. After dropping the slow-burning R&B cut “Blue Ocean" and a quick-witted verse for his video “Fast," the 16-year-old actor/rapper switches up his style once again with “Melancholy.“

There are a few things to note on Jaden's latest release. For one, he's rapping over Pink Floyd's 1973 track “Breathe,” a move he playfully references in his rhymes (“Oh you rappin' on this? I bet you thought that you would body this/You messin' up a classic, how you did with The Karate Kid”) and on Twitter. His voice is also deeper in tone, which suits him well here as he raps from an emotional state. “I hide behind my hate because I wish I had your confidence.” Damn, Jaden is really on one. If you listen closely, you'll also hear his sister Willow performing the backing vocals. —Edwin Ortiz
