Michael Christmas has released his new mixtape Is This Art? The Boston rapper spends 15 songs (and one bonus cut) delivering humorous rhymes over production that ranges from boom bap to new school synth. He also brings a few friends along for his art walk, with Alex Wiley, Rome Fortune, and Mr. MFN eXquire all joining Christmas on this lyrical expedition.
Beyond his entertaining bars, there's a star in the making here. Christmas playfully calls himself the "best rapper since Andy Milonakis" on "Overweight Drake," and he's not far off in the comparison. For starters, he is a much better rapper than Milonakis. Moreover, Christmas has a distinct appeal to him that the listener connects with at the end of every punchline. If rapping doesn't work out, he definitely has a shot at stand-up comedy. If we're lucky enough, he'll excel at both in the future.
