As part of New York Fashion Week, the Harlem couturier and beverage giant will officially launch their “Made for Football Watching” capsule—a limited edition collection that offers a range of unisex apparel and accessories. Dan created the co-branded pattern for the offering, which includes a head-turning lounger with vegan leather pockets, a hoodie, bucket hat, and a collectible Pepsi can that pays homage to old-school NFL.
“I’ve been bringing luxury fashion to Harlem for 35 years and let me tell you, you don’t always see a true authentic collaboration come to life the way it did here with Pepsi, and right in time for the football season and New York Fashion Week at that,” Dan said in a press release. “This capsule collection is equally inspired by the Pepsi brand, football fans, and my one-of-a-kind looks. Fashion and football have never come together like this before. Athleisure has a new name on the block, and it’s Pepsi x Dapper Dan.”
As part of the collection’s campaign, Dan sat down with former Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz to provide a closer look at the capsule as well as explain why the Pepsi partnership was so important to him.
“This is something they haven’t seen before,” Dan tells Cruz about the garms. “[Fans] wanna really be connected to a brand, and for me to able to help the connect, that’s amazing.”
The capsule, which marks Dan’s first apparel partnership outside of Gucci, will drop at 10 a.m. ET Thursday at the MadeForFootballWatching.com/DapperDan page. The items will be available to the first 400 customers who sign up at the collaboration’s website; the first three eligible customers will also get a custom, one-of-a-kind lounger handmade in Dan’s Harlem atelier.
