According to Chart News, Pharrell's "Happy" will jump up a spot to the top of the Billboard charts at the end of this week. The news comes on the heels of the pre-release stream of Skateboard P's upcoming solo album G I R L hitting iTunes last night. The album is officially in stores on March 4.
Pharrell is not unfamiliar with the No. 1 spot, having spent 12 weeks there last year as a contributor to Robin Thicke's career-making single "Blurred Lines." But despite P's 2013 Billboard reign, "Happy" is the first song helmed by an African-American artist to hit No. 1 on the Hot 100 since Rihanna's "Diamonds" in December 2012.
