After getting into an argument with a Taylor Swift fan on Instagram earlier today over the singer's donation of $250,000 to embattled star Kesha, Demi Lovato sought to clarify her thoughts with a new Instagram post. Saying that she was simply "fired up," Lovato explained that her "heart and intentions are always in the right place, unfortunately sometimes my passion gets the best of me and causes me to say things that I probably shouldn't say."
She went on to note that the focus of the whole issue should be on the real issues of sexual assault and how they affect women. "It baffles me that when it comes to serious issues like equality and abuse, too often women are not taken as seriously as men. All I want to see is women coming together and actually making a difference." In what seems like a bit of an apology to Swift, she added, "Everyone has their own way of giving support to others, and at the end of the day, helping victims is all that matters."
