Hudon Mohawke 'Cry Sugar'

Seven years since the release of his last full-length offering, Hudson Mohawke returns with his third studio album Cry Sugar.

The 19-track project marks the Scottish artist’s first new material since 2016’s Ded Sec – Watch Dogs 2 (Original Game Soundtrack), and follows the series of mixtapes (B.B.H.E., Poom Gems, and Airborne Lard), which featured unreleased music that had been in his vault, Mohawke put out in 2020.

Preceded by the previously released singles “Cry Sugar (Megamix),” “Bicstan,” “Stump,” and “Dance Forever,” Cry Sugar serves as the official follow-up to Mohawke’s first two studio efforts, 2009’s Butter and 2015’s Lantern.

In a press release coinciding with the release of the music video for “Bicstan,” Mohawke mentioned that Cry Sugar would be “deeply informed by apocalyptic film scores and soundtracks by everyone from the late Vangelis to the goofy major-chord pomp of ‘90s John Williams.”

Listen to Hudson Mohawke’s new album Cry Sugar now on all major streaming platforms.
