More than five years after initially announcing his retirement, it sounds like Bow Wow may be officially ready to call it quits.

During a Q&A session on Twitter on Friday morning, the 34-year-old was asked when he’ll collaborate with Snoop Dogg, a mentor in the early stages of his career.

“Spoke to snoop last week. Very soon,” Bow Wow wrote. “My plan is to put my final album on death row and close my music career out where it began. I’m tryna do the d wade and come home and close it out.”

For those who don’t remember, Snoop is credited with giving Shad Moss the name Lil’ Bow Wow back in the early ‘90s. From there, Bow Wow did the kid skits on Snoop’s 1993 debut album Doggystyle, before signing with Jermaine Dupri’s So So Def label en route to releasing his 2000 debut album Beware of Dog.

Of course, it’s not a coincidence Bow Wow wants to join forces with Death Row in 2022. Earlier this month, Snoop acquired the brand from MNRK Music Group, formerly known as eOne Music when it was purchased in 2019 for $4 billion by Hasbro.

“I am thrilled and appreciative of the opportunity to acquire the iconic and culturally significant Death Row Records brand, which has immense untapped future value,” Snoop said in a statement. “It feels good to have ownership of the label I was part of at the beginning of my career and as one of the founding members.”
