Juice WRLD's closest friends and family gathered on Friday to pay their respects to the late rapper.

According to TMZ, a private funeral was held for Juice WRLDā€”legal nameĀ Jarad Anthony Higginsā€”at theĀ Holy Temple Cathedral Church of God in Christ in Harvey, Illinois, a south suburb of Chicago. Attendees reportedly included executives from Interscope (Juice WRLD's record label), Ski Mask the Slump God, and his immediate relatives. The rapper's mother,Ā Carmella Wallace, was among those who delivered a eulogy. She also told TMZ she was grateful for all the support, andĀ hopes her son's tragic death will help othersĀ who "struggle with addiction."

Wallace also shared some touching words for the funeralĀ program:

My dear son Jarad, God trusted me to raise you and I poured all I had into you as the Lord guided me. We were inseparable and even though you left home early, we were always in each other's hearts and always had a special bond ... Your love was pure and innocent, and you heart was genuine. You truly cared about people and wanted to make the world a better place. I am going to miss you dearly. Rest in peace my dear one; mommy loves you.

Juice WRLD died at the age of 21 on Sunday afterĀ having a seizure at Chicago's Midway Airport. The rapper reportedly suffered cardiac arrest while federal agents were searching his and his entourage's luggage for weapons and drugs. Law enforcement sources told TMZ that Juice WRLD had swallowedĀ Percocet pills during the raid in an attempt to hide them from the feds. The search ultimately yielded 70 pounds of marijuana; but according to TMZ, no one from Juice WRLD's team has claimed ownership of the luggage in which the drugs were found. Because there were no tags on the bags, authorities can not identify their owners andĀ file any charges.
