Lil Nas X Reacts to Footage Of Autistic Boy Singing 'Old Town Road': 'What a King'

Lil Nas X's "Old Town Road" remix has inspired a non-verbal autistic boy to speak for the first time.

Lil Nas X’s chart-topping hit “Old Town Road” has helped a non-verbal autistic boy speak.

Sheletta Brundidge, who goes by the username @TwoHauteMamas1, shared a video of her son singing Lil Nas and Billy Ray Cyrus’ remix. "We had an #oldtownroad miracle at my house," she wrote. "My son Daniel has #autism and doesn't talk. We caught him humming the @LilNasX and @billyraycyrus tune the other day. Then Bless God, my baby started singing the song on his own. His therapists have started to use it in his sessions!"

Lil Nas saw her tweet and quote-tweeted it, writing, “what a king.”

The rapper has had a crazy run, going from being a relatively unknown artist to spending nine-weeks and counting atop the Billboard Hot 100 with Billy Ray Cyrus for the “Old Town Road” remix. According to Billboard, this is the longest chart run of the year thus far.

One commenter even asked about Daniel’s direct gaze and whether that was also a new development in his behavior, to which his mother responded, “Yes ma'am it is." She continued, "we noticed about a few months ago that he began looking directly at the camera when we would take pictures. So it's been bubbling up inside of him!!!! @LilNasX and @billyraycyrus just helped bring it out.”

Read some of the other reactions to the video below.

Every time I lock eyes with my baby, we start singing #oldtownroad together. Cause of his #autism, he ain't strung together four words since he was born. But when we sing #OldTownRoad, he got all @LilNasX parts DOWN and I'm rocking @billyraycyrus! Can't nobody tell us nothing... pic.twitter.com/j7w6qrLW63
