R. Kelly broke his social media silence last month to wish his daughter a happy birthday. Now he's posted on Instagram once again to directly address the public and press. "Yo, this is your boy Kells and I got an event to do tonight in Springfield, Illinois, so I want the media to take it easy on me, man," he said in his recent video update.

The singer has been hit with intense scrutiny following a litany of sex abuse allegations leveled against him.

"This is how I got to get paid for right now," he continued. "So if you see me in the club, with a couple of drinks in my hand, and chilling, please, take it easy."

Kelly currently owes his ex-wife over $160,000 in child support payments, which is possibly why he's making a club appearance like this one. His legal team recently withdrew his request to travel to Dubai for a series of shows that the government said were never planned to begin with.

As promised, he actually turned up to the club appearance at the Dirty South Lounge in Springfield, where he took selfies with fans. ABC reporter Brittany Hardaway revealed that the club did reduce ticket prices due to a low turnout, though.
