Corey Hart Will Be Inducted Into The Canadian Music Hall Of Fame At 2019 Juno Awards

Corey Hart will be given an induction into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame later this year. The Canadian '80s sensation will be granted the honour during the upcoming Juno Awards on Sunday, March 17.

The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences says Hart has sold more than 16 million albums during his career. The Montreal-born singer stormed Canada and the world in the early '80s and is best known for hits like "Sunglasses at Night," "Never Surrender," and "Boy in the Box." In fact, Hart (who wrote all his own material) had nine consecutive US Billboard Top 40 hits during the '80s, while in Canada, 30 of his singles reached the Top 40, including 12 in the Top 10.

Hart's debut album, First Offense, was released in 1983, and he is set to release his first album in over 20 years, Dreaming Time Again, on May 3.

In a release from the academy, Hart said he was honoured to be named an inductee as he begins preparing for his first national tour in over two decades.

Previous inductees into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame include Anne Murray, Joni Mitchell, k.d. lang, Leonard Cohen, Neil Young, Oscar Peterson and Shania Twain.

The 2019 Juno Awards will take place on Sunday, March 17 in London, ON, and will be broadcast live across the country at 8pm.
