Though we certainly didn't start the year with confidence that the long-delayed Tha Carter V would actually find its way into our hands over the next 12 months, it's been nice getting properly reacquainted with the franchise. Now, "Don't Cry"—the studio version of which features contributions from the late XXXTentacion—has been given the Late Show treatment.

Up top, catch Lil Wayne's live drums-assisted "Don't Cry' performance (why no Travis?) taken from Wednesday night's show. Also note the platform Nikes. "If you lost somebody, and you celebrating life tonight, then just put two fingers in the air," Wayne told the crowd during the track's closing moments.

"That was my big homie [Mack Maine’s] idea," Wayne told Elliott Wilson back in October of how "Don't Cry," specifically X's chorus, came together. "He came to New Orleans to do something for like a day or two, and he came back and said I have something I want you to hear. That was the first time hearing my mom on the song, so when he played that, then he played the song."

Earlier this week, Weezy announced the dates for his limited I Ain’t Sh*t Without You Tour. The fan-chosen stops include Atlanta, Houston, Chicago, and Washington D.C. If you plan on attending one or all of those stops, you can likely expect Wayne to pull out some rarities and other surprises.
