Watch Senior Citizens Choose Team Cardi or Team Nicki at a Farmer's Market

“We didn’t have rappers when I was young. We just had songs.”

Cardi B and Nicki Minaj called a truce on Monday night after their year-long feud exploded on social media. But so many accusations and claims surfaced during the heated back and forth that we’re still unpacking the facts, despite their (temporary) peace. To make sense of the madness, Jimmy Kimmel headed to a very unsuspecting place looking for answers—a farmer’s market. While there his team talked to a few elderly folks who, unsurprisingly, had no idea what the fuck is going on.

“I have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about,” one man told the show. Another answered, “I’ll tell you the truth, I’m not familiar with this singer."

Unfortunately, Kimmel’s show failed to interview any elderly people of color, otherwise they might have encountered some folks who know a thing or two about the hottest rap beef of the year. One man admitted the genre didn’t even exist when he was in his youth. “We didn’t have rappers when I was young,” he said. “We just had songs.”

Kimmel started off the segment with a shallow explanation of the feud between Nicki and Cardi, centering it around their dubious “MotorSport’” collab and Nicki’s changed verse. To give some of the interviewees insight into the topic, they played Nicki’s verse for them. The responses were mixed.  “I love it! Go for it!” one man said, dancing along to the track and ultimately getting so inspired he proceeded to do a handstand in the middle of a farmer’s market.

Other listeners were not impressed. "I actually have nothing I would want to do with that," one man said. “I’d throw it in the garbage.”

One woman had some advice for the rappers. “Don’t feud it’s a waste of energy. Life is meant to be enjoyed,” she said. “I think they say in America, get a life.”
