A Star

With recent chatter about the health of the grime scene reaching its height, what better way to lay the talk to rest than a good old-fashioned all-star sparring session?

A Star comes through today with a special delivery, calling on former Neckle Camp and Rollin' G MC Earz, Ruff Sqwad maestro Prince Rapid and arguably the G.O.A.T, D Double E, for "Born & Raised". Piecing together how this number came about, A Star points to mutual connections bringing him in with Rapid, his Rollin' G days alongside Earz, and also the incredible story of D Double performing at his wedding last summer.

Over vintage-feel Ruff Sqwad production, complete with Rapid's signature refrains, A Star opens out with an ode to the East London streets that not only gifted us the grime scene, but also the four emcees on the track. Not only sending out a statement with this coming together of talents, A Star remains defiant about the future for grime: "Stormzy went No. 1 with his album and he does grime; D Double E is about release his album—and I know it'll do well. So we've got nothing to worry about. Grime is still very much alive and well."
