Nicki Minaj has released new visuals for "Ganja Burns," the first track off her fourth studio album Queen. The video opens with several paragraphs telling a fictional story of an ancient queen, before cutting to footage of Nicki performing in a desert. Watch the video, directed by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, above.
The orange hues and regal vibes of the video coincide with the new album's cover, and at one point Nicki is sporting the same outfit and adorned headdress. She released Queen on Aug. 10 after pushing back the original album date. The project includes features from Lil Wayne, Ariana Grande, Eminem, Labrinth, the Weeknd, Swae Lee, and Future. This August also marks the nine-year anniversary of the rapper signing to Tunechi's Young Money label.
After dropping the album, Minaj informed fans that she was planning to update the opening track because she felt the levels were too low on the chorus. She also revealed the song was supposed to be titled "Ganja Burn" not "Ganja Burns," but she messed up when handing in her tracklist. That explains why the music video is dubbed the former.
Nicki also released a song with Nas titled "Sorry" after dropping Queen, and says she plans to update the album with another Future collab. Future and Nicki are joining forces for their NickiHndrxx tour, which kicks off on Sept. 21 in Baltimore.
Queen is now available everywhere to stream.
