Kids See Ghosts, Kanye West and Kid Cudi's long-overdue full-length collab project, started popping up on streaming services Friday morning. As with last week's West solo release Ye, the seven-track album first premiered during a WAV-streamed listening party late Thursday night after a smattering of technical difficulties.
Interestingly, what's been immediately clear with Ghosts is that the overall reception will likely be much more generally unanimous, as West sounds more lyrically focused here than on the majority of Ye. Cudi, as expected, is also in top form. An early highlight is the Kurt Cobain-sampling "Cudi Montage," which sends the album out on the sort of refreshingly vulnerable note many have argued was largely absent from Ye. But was this the album that saw West offer up a direct explanation for his MAGA infatuation? Frustratingly, no.
