One month after dropping off “Gentleman,” singer-songwriter Gallant returns with another solid track called “Doesn’t Matter.” Check out the video for it up top.

The R&B cut is much more energetic than his previous single, as it features a synth-driven beat and an infectious hook delivered in Gallant’s impressive falsetto. “Doesn’t Matter” is expected to appear on the Maryland native’s upcoming sophomore album, presumably due later this year. And, let’s just say, expectations are high.

Gallant’s debut effort, Ology, earned him a 2017 Grammy nomination for Best Urban Contemporary Album—an award that ultimately went to Beyoncé’s Lemonade. But despite Ology’s critical success, Gallant says his next project will offer something different.

“I started working on some stuff at the beginning of the year,” he told Vibe in 2017. “So far, everything is different [from the sound of Ology], but it’s coming from a very similar sentiment. My values are the same, but there’s a lot of different backdrops to everything.”

We’re intrigued.

Stay tuned as more details about Gallant’s sophomore album are revealed. Until then, you can listen to “Doesn’t Matter” now on Apple Music, iTunes, and Spotify.
