YBN Nahmir's hit song "Rubbin Off the Paint" (which we first hipped you to last month) has been blowing up—getting tens of millions of YouTube views, remixes and co-signs from big stars, and even a spot on the Billboard Hot 100.
But it hasn't been all smooth sailing for Nahmir. The 17-year-old artist wrote a long post on Instagram on Wednesday about some issues surrounding the use of the song's beat. Nahmir claimed an old manager sold the beat for the track to someone else without his knowledge, and now he's in the middle of a fight to get it back.
"Early on, one of my old managers helped me buy the Rubbin beat off line," he wrote. "Once shit started moving, he got excited and then, w/o my knowledge and on some greedy shit let one these big record company niggas finesse him into selling the beat to them. Then the company tried to force me to do a deal w them claiming they own my song."
