Miguel has been mostly behind-the-scenes this year, but he’s ready to step into spotlight again.
Last year, the 29-year-old R&B singer uploaded three songs onto his SoundCloud—“NWA”, “Hollywood Dreams” and “Coffee”—that were signs he was working on a full project since 2012’s Kaleidoscope Dream. Although he offered a string of EPs before, this is the first time we’ve heard of his new music direction and it’s a pleasure.
“Coffee,” which features “Lotus Flower Bomb” collaborator Wale, is the duo’s strongest effort so far with a mixture of fuzzy guitars and romantic lyrics that’s all classic Miguel.
