Right now, there's no one better positioned to helm the UK funky revival than MA1. Often, via his own Karnival Music, MA1's productions and DJ sets played an integral role in developing and championing the sound, pushing it out into the wider world. And his latest track, "Take Away The Bass", which features vocals from Sophia, combines everything we loved about UK funky: bouncy drums, chest-rattling bass, and melody. Lots of melody. In fact, one of the defining aspects of the genre was its reliance on powerful, often female vocals to get guys and girls dancing on the floor together. It also added some soul to the sound, something that often lacked from instrumental tracks. "Take Away The Bass" will be released through MA1's Karnival Music imprint on March 30, and you can stream it exclusively below.
