"And I still get jealous of Vic, and Vic's still jealous of me." —Chance The Rapper ("Acid Rain", 2013).

Kanye West just previewed another song with Vic Mensa this past week in London, confirming the pair's collaboration to be more of an ongoing relationship than a one-off occurrence.

There was a time, the Yeezus era, to be scientific, that Kanye West started doing the "new" Chicago rounds, so to speak. First it was Chief Keef, then King Louie, both of whom appeared on the 2013 album. At the time, the Chi's current star was Chance The Rapper. For anyone following the two, it almost seemed like the next logical step that the two would wind up on a song together. But time passed, and Kanye kept quiet (musically) for a while, until this past month or so. We got "Wolves," with Chance's long-time collaborator Vic Mensa, and "All Day" with Allan Kingdom (who, if we're being real, has a comparable style, and occupies a lot of the same audience as Chance). What it's starting to seem like, is that Kanye is eating with everyone at Chance's table—except for Chance.

That is, of course, unless it's already happened and we don't know about it yet. Chance, a self-proclaimed Kanye stan, met his god in September of 2014. Six months ago. Every blog referred to it as an event, framing it as though it was this long-awaited inevitability. "We talked about Chicago and what we could do for it," said Chance of the encounter. Did that conversation lead to work on Ye's new album? It certainly would have been the right time.

Only time will tell, they say, and time will certainly tell one thing or another when their two respective albums come out this year.
