When: Late '80s-Early '90s

After getting some experience with Boogie Down Productions, Lighty went on to manage The Jungle Brothers and A Tribe Called Quest. Lighty helped foster the Native Tongues movement and became close with not only Tribe and The JBs but also De La Soul, Black Sheep, and other acts.

Lighty contributed a verse to Black Sheep's A Wolf in Sheep's Clothing classic "Pass The 40" and while working with The Jungle Brothers, he helped negotiate their $1.6 million record deal with Warner Bros. That deal inspired Lighty to become more involved with the business side of hip-hop.
