A man was arrested after he allegedly threw a hard seltzer can at Texas Sen. Ted Cruz during the Houston Astros’ World Series victory parade on Monday.

Houston Police confirmed that a 33-year-old was taken into custody and will face assault charges. Authorities said Cruz was hit in the “chest/neck area” by the can, but didn’t require medical attention.

HPD made one arrest during today’s victory parade. A male, 33, threw a beer can at U.S. Senator Ted Cruz as the Senator was on a float in the 2400 block of Smith St. The beer can struck the Senator in the chest/neck area. The Senator did not require medical attention.

Cruz praised the Houston Police and Capitol Police in his response to the incident on Twitter, and took a dig at the person who threw the can.

As always I'm thankful for the Houston Police and Capitol Police for their quick action.

I’m also thankful that the clown who threw his White Claw had a noodle for an arm. https://t.co/CRSfNHckA2

It was a rough day for Cruz, who was also mercilessly booed as his military jeep made its way through the crowd.

@tedcruz getting booed. Like, why did you even come? You don’t do anything for this city, this state, Uvalde. Nothing. #AstrosParade #HoustonAstros #houston pic.twitter.com/It3CQLR54P

The parade came weeks after Cruz dared to be seen inside Yankee Stadium in the Bronx during the American League Championship Series against the New York Yankees.

As expected, his presence wasn’t well-received there, either.
