A woman in Argentina took off her dress in an ice cream shop in an attempt to repurpose it as a face mask to abide by the store’s mask policy, the New York Post reports.
In video making the rounds online and recorded off a security camera, the woman enters the store in the province of Mendoza and can be seen trying to repurposing her dress as a face mask.
“Don’t ask for my face mask, I’m putting it on,” she reportedly said.
Also in the video, which was taken at around 10:40 p.m. on New Year’s Day, per publication Diario Mendoza, are a man and his daughters, who look somewhat concerned as the woman enters the shop in her underwear and puts the black garment over her face.
The woman then left the store after being refused service over her apparent attempt at masking herself, and was eventually able to get an order through after a friend of hers secured a mask. In Argentina, face coverings are currently required in indoor spaces, and can only be removed if people have a two-meter—or six-foot—distance from each other.
This may not be the strangest thing someone has done to avoid a mask mandate in recent months, either. Back in December, a Florida man claimed he was banned from United Airlines after he tried to use a red thong as a mask during a flight.
Passenger Adam Jenne later claimed that “COVID doesn’t know that we’re at cruising altitude” and revealed he’s worn the red underpants on his face—to prove his point—before. He claimed that “maybe a dozen” others left the flight after he was kicked off.
“Everything else that has sparked change in this country has started from everyday people,” he told NBC2 about his experience wearing the underwear over his face. “Rosa Parks was nobody famous. She changed the course of history.”
