Trump Reportedly Berated Hope Hicks for Admitting She Told 'White Lies' on His Behalf

Lying on behalf of a 71-year-old man-child is hard work.

Don't ask me why, but some people love to waste time feeling sorry for people who absolutely don't deserve it. Thus, with Wednesday's announcement that Hope Hicks was resigning from her White House communications director role, we now have a story about Trump reportedly berating her just one day earlier.

Trump allegedly berated Hicks following her House Intelligence Committee testimony Tuesday, CNNreported. "[Hicks] was his last emotional crutch," a source said. During the testimony, as widely reported, Hicks reportedly admitted to telling "white lies" on the Home Alone 2 ruiner's behalf.

In an on-air report on Hicks' resignation, CNN's Erin Burnett said the source added that Trump asked Hicks "how she could be so stupid" after she completed her testimony. The White House, of course, has denied that any such berating ever took place. Bizarrely, Hicks thanked Trump in her resignation statement for something he's never exhibited even once in his life: gratitude. "I am sure we will work together again in the future," Trump said in a follow-up statement.

So here's the thing: Being berated is awful, but you know what's even worse? Knowingly working for a guy who brags about grabbing women "by the pussy," refers to immigrants as "rapists" and "drug dealers," and retweets fringe Twitter accounts calling for violence against journalists. Hope Hicks doesn't deserve your sympathy. At best, we can hope that her resignation is just another in a long line of resignations/firings that will eventually lead to the total collapse of Trumpism.
