Human remains discovered in Texas back in December have now been identified as Taylor Pomaski, the missing girlfriend of ex-NFL tight end Kevin Ware.

Taylor Pomaski, 29, was last seen hosting a house party at her home in Spring, Texas on April 25, 2021. Her remains were discovered in a ditch near Harris County on Dec. 10, and the county’s Sheriff’s Department confirmed to NBC News that the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences had found them to be a match to Pomaski.

“The investigation is still open and active and homicide investigators are diligent on bringing this case to a close,” said Senior Deputy Thomas Gilliland in an e-mail to NBC News.

Pomaski had been residing with Ware, 40, when she was reported missing last May. Ware, who is a former tight end for the San Francisco 49ers, was questioned about her disappearance in June but was not named a suspect by prosecutors until he was arrested for an unrelated bond violation by the U.S. Marshals Service at a strip mall in Spring. Ware had allegedly failed to report for bond supervision related to a previous gun and drug charge he faced.

Ware’s attorney Coby DuBose told The New York Post that the NFL footballer had been cooperative throughout the entire investigation.

“He’s told the police everything that he knows and he’s led them through his house. He’s let them in his home, and that’s really all we’re going to say about that,” DuBose said. No charges have been filed against Ware, and he has been residing in Montogomery County Jail for 10 months.
