“When officers arrived on scene they ‘immediately’ made entry into the school and found six adults who had ‘some affiliation with the school’ suffering from gunshot wounds,” CNN writes, citing Oakland Police Assistant Chief Darren Allison and noting the campus is comprised of middle and high schools.

Alameda County Health System spokesperson Eleanor Ajala told the San Francisco Chronicle that the three people taken to Highland Hospital are in critical condition. The status of the other three transported to Eden Medical Center is unknown. The identities of the six victims have not been revealed.

In a tweet condemning the shooting, Oakland mayor Libby Schaaf said investigators informed her that the six individuals in question are adults.
