Photo of Alleged 6.5-Inch iPhone X Plus Screen Surfaces

A photo circulating on a couple Mac forums is rumored to be the first look at the forthcoming iPhone X Plus from Apple, according to the Verge. Apple is always prolific, but rumors began circulating last year that the company plans to drop three new full-screen iPhones this year, including a larger version of the iPhone X released in 2017.

The photo leaked appears to be a 6.5-inch version of the same screen on the current iPhone X, which has a 5.8-inch display. The leak was originally posted on MacX forums, but was later deleted. Check out a photo of the alleged new screen below.

It’s unclear if the screen is actually a new Apple iPhone X screen or not. A repost of the photo on MacRumors pointed out that it appears to be a larger version of the same style, and that its labeling is congruous with the way Apple usually numbers its parts. But Verge also notes that plenty of companies have been borrowing Apple’s latest iPhone X notch design, so it’s possible that the photo could be a screen from a clone manufacturer. We’ll just have to wait for the next Apple keynote reveal to find out.

When Apple isn’t busy making new phones we can’t afford, the company has been caught up in a legal mess related to its practice of slowing down older versions of iPhones. In January, the U.S. government launched a probe into the issue. Apple released a statement soon after saying that the company was complying with the investigation. “First and foremost, we have never—and would never—do anything to intentionally shorten the life of any Apple product, or degrade the user experience to drive customer upgrades," the statement read. "Our goal has always been to create products that our customers love, and making iPhones last as long as possible is an important part of that.”
