Controversial Radio Host Don Imus Dies at 79

Don Imus has passed away. The 79-year-old was well-known for his radio show Imus in the Morning.

The controversial personality died on Friday morning at a hospital in College Station, Texas, according to The Hollywood Reporter. He hosted his radio show for almost 50 years.

He had been hospitalized on Christmas Eve. The cause of death is not yet known.

Imus is survived by his wife of 25 years, Deirdre, and sons Wyatt and Lt. Zachary Don Cates.

I know Don Imus was far from perfect. I know he did and said lots of shit he shouldn’t have. I know he wasn’t always the kindest person. All that said, I grew up listening to him.

Whatever you thought of him, Don Imus was a significant force in American politics from the early '90s until 2007. His show featured top national figures, including sitting presidents, and helped shape the national media conversation.
