You cannot stop Quilty, you can only hope to contain him.
Quilty, a six-year-old cat, has gone viral for repeatedly freeing other cats from their rooms at the Friends For Life Animal Rescue and Adoption Organization in Houston.
The shelter's employees, while obviously enjoying the attention the young cat is receiving, were fed up with having to wrangle the cats after their nighttime romps. "Quilty will not be contained. And he has no shame," the shelter wrote on Facebook. "Quilty loves to let cats out of the senior room. Repeatedly. Several times a day."
As evidenced by the picture above, Quilty didn't enjoy being placed in solitary confinement. "We have since Quilty-proofed the cat room, while he took a brief hiatus in the lobby. His roommates missed him while he was banished to the lobby," the shelter continued. "They enjoyed their nighttime escapades around the shelter. The staff, however, did not miss the morning cat wrangling, so we’ll just have to agree to disagree there."
Quilty's efforts have went viral, and due to the massive number of adoption applications the shelter received for the rebellious cat, he may have already found a home. But the shelter's employees want people to come by and check out the other cats Quilty hangs out with. "We're pretty floored and excited about the response we've received on Quilty's antics," Jennifer Hopkins with Friends for Life told the Houston Chronicle. "He's an awesome cat. Our cats live in free roam cat rooms (the rooms that Quilty opens the doors in) and people are welcome to come visit with the cats whenever we're open."
The cat is so popular, he has an Instagram account, his own hashtag: #FreeQuilty and even got a shoutout on The Daily Show with Trevor Noah.
