Donald Trump Says the Letter From Kim Jong Un Was 'Interesting' Then Admits He Never Read It

Donald Trump did not open the letter from North Korean leader Kim Jong Un but that doesn't stop him from describing it.

Donald Trump likely didn't read the letter sent to him by North Korea’s leader, Kim Jong Un. Or maybe he did? He didn't.

On Friday, Trump told the press that the "letter was a very nice letter" and offered to share it with them. "Oh, would you like to see what was in that letter? How much? How much?” he asked those in attendance.

One journalist later asked him for more information on the letter or the "flavor of what the letter said." Trump answered that "it was a very interesting letter" and promised that "at some point, it may be appropriate and maybe I’ll be able to give it to you, maybe."

Then, the darndest thing happened. About eight minutes later, Trump said he not only hasn't read the letter yet, but he also never opened the envelope.

"I haven’t seen the letter yet," he said answering another question at the same press conference. "I purposely didn’t open the letter. I haven’t opened it. I didn’t open it in front of the director. I said, 'Would you want me to open it?' He said, 'You can read it later.'" He later added, "I may be in for a big surprise, folks." Face palm.

The letter arrived ahead of a major summit between the U.S. and North Korea happening on June 12. It was briefly canceled but it's reportedly back on, meaning Trump will be speaking to North Korea on behalf of the United States. God help us all.
