Bernie Sanders supporters felt a very different kind of Bern over the weekend, kindly offering generous sums of cash money to Democratic rival Hillary Clinton. The group of Sanders devotees pummeled Clinton's motorcade with "one thousand $1 bills," according to the studious cash-counters over at CNN. One of Clinton's motorcade stops that fateful Saturday evening? George Clooney's not-exactly-cheap fundraiser.
Howard Gold, he of 99 Cents Only fame, distributed the stack of ones to attendees of his own $27-a-head Sanders fundraiser. Conveniently enough, Gold lives just down the street from Clooney in Studio City. "She is the most militaristic of any of the candidates," Gold told CNN, expressing his staunch disapproval of her views on foreign policy. "I really thinks she is."
Clinton, of course, has taken a fair amount of heat in recent weeks for pricey fundraising events that many argue cater purely to the rich. In an interview with Chuck Todd on Meet the Press on Sunday, Clooney admitted the preposterousness of hosting elite fundraisers. "I think it's an obscene amount of money,” Clooney said. "I think, you know, we had some protesters last night when we pulled up in San Francisco and they're right to protest."
Saturday's cash-only protest concluded with the blasting of alleged bangers "We're in the Money" and "Hail to the Chief" as the group "danced in the street, stomping on the dollar bills," CNN reports. Meanwhile, in the land of Truz and Crump, people are arguing about alleged masturbation. Politics as usual?
