With Saint Raymond's debut album just around the corner (July 6; mark it in your diaries), it seemed timely that one of the album's tracks, "Young Blood", be picked up for a remix by Alex Metric. There isn't much left of the original; the jangly guitars have been eschewed in favour of some metallic, almost liquid synths and the Nottingham-born singer-songwriter's vocals have been chopped up and stripped back until all that remains is a trance-inducing refrain. Beneath the underwater synths and disembodied vocals sits the urgent, percussive snap of Baltimore or Jersey Club. It's only a subtle nod, mind, and by no means places this tune into either category. But that percussive sound keeps the track driving and most importantly, your feet moving.
