Russian protest-punks Pussy Riot are set to join Toronto’s Pride celebration this summer.

On June 28th, members of the masked collective will join bubblegum-pop legend and avid LGBT activist Cyndi Lauper as international grand marshals of the Pride parade. Pussy Riot members Nadezhda Tolokonnikova and Maria Alyokhina continue to be outspoken against Russian president Vladimir Putin’s anti-gay laws, and they’ll help lead the way through the streets of Toronto in the annual celebration of all things queer.

Pussy Riot and Lauper join the likes of previously announced grand marshalls filmmaker David Furnish and Bollywood star and activist Celina Jaitly.

Also taking part in the 2015 Pride celebrations is filmmaker John Waters, who will be bringing his lecture series "The Filthy World" to the Ryerson Theatre on June 22nd.
