Visvim Spring/Summer 2015 Recap

None

Let me tell you what it's like to be in the same room as Hiroki from the point of view of someone who has never been in the same room as Hiroki before and then—SUDDENLY—is in the same room as Hiroki: It's kinda weird. Like, you see all the racks of that new vis lined around the room and then he's just over on a couch slumped like a true lord. While we're all ogling the kimonos, parkas, denim, canvas sneakers, FBT replacements and the fucking insane old school Model A they loaded into the venue, he's just, like, there. Existing. Watching. I'm pretty sure he levitates when no one's looking. Obviously, a visvim presentation is an experience.

After seeing the S/S 15 collection in person yesterday, visvim released a kind of mini lookbook for that looks a bit different from past collections. It has hybrid tastes of 1950s ranch hand/greaser with some modern silhouettes. Veteran fans know it's not necessarily about how the clothes look at first glance, but the details in how they're crafted and prepared. Processes like mud-dying (a mud-dyed silk kimono will retail for $21,000) and the use of materials like pineapple fibers constantly separate visvim from any and all competitors. But you know that already, I guess. The S/S 15 collection takes inspiration from Hiroki's experience with vintage Americana and a love for the wear and tear of clothing that lasts almost forever. Man, this sounds like a fucking blog entry from 2009. Is this shit about to come full circle? Off the strength of Hiroki alone, it just might. If you'd like to see some more product-specific shots, head over to the Four Pins Instagram where the visvim presentation is displayed in all its glory.
