You either love or hate Stone Island. A lot of people dislike it for the association it has with soccer hooligans, while others point to the insanely intricate and unique dyeing processes the company has mastered. I went to go see this collection in person a couple of months ago and while on my way to the showroom, I saw Carlo Rivetti, Stone Island CEO, walking around SoHo in between appointments. He was decked out in a deep purple Stone Island parka, cargo pants and these crazy flagrant Nike Footscape Routes. At that moment, I knew what I was about to see was dope. Only he could really pull that off. This collection is kind of like that outfit: something a bit crazy. So if you're a fan of Stone Island, you'll appreciate it. The colors are inspired by minerals. You have your emeralds, metallics and blacks from quartz and obsidian—some rare earth shit. A Stone Island collection isn't complete without some nutty technology like this crazy material, polypropylene. Even though it looks like cotton, it's apparently the lightest fiber in the world and used in the parkas, which are filled with down and still surprisingly light. That's some space age shit. Kind of like most Stone Island gear.
