From 1975 to 1983, photographer Booby Grossman captured the emergence of the Punk/New Wave/No Wave seen in downtown New York City. He shot folks like Andy Warhol, David Bowie, and Beat author William S. Burroughs. Glenn O'Brien hired him as official photographer of his show TV Party, which led to images of Debbie Harry, Fab Five Freddy, and Jean-Michel Basquiat.
Low Fidelty, running to March 15 at Vertu Fine Art, documents a pivotal moment in time. It is, in essence, a capsule of downtown cool. [Living Proof]
