"KID ZOOM : HOME" Exhibition Features Graffiti and Explosions
KID ZOOM returns to Australia, creates a model of his childhood home, and blows up some cars.
Australian-born, New York-based artist KID ZOOM (Ian Strange) is back home down under for his first show in three years. He's built a full-scale replica of his childhood home from memory at Cockatoo Island's prestigious Turbine Hall in Sydney. ZOOM says, "I am very much a product of the Australian suburbs and have always wanted to create an installation work reflecting on that." With that in mind, the installation also includes a video of Strange blowing up and then smashing three iconic cars (Holden Commadores, to be exact).
Amazing stuff.
