The next move in IKEA's quest for design domination is, apparently, the construction of a complete neighborhood in London. With the purchase of an 11-hectare area in East London, the Swedish firm proposes to revitalize a dilapidated portion of the City. This, to be fair, is an admirable proposition. What's different is that the homes will all be owned and operated by IKEA, making the neighborhood 100% private rental. Could this be the future of urban planning? [Globe and Mail]
