Since 4000 B.C., gold has been used for jewelry, and later for coins. But as time progressed, and as people have become more creative, stranger things have been dipped, draped, and made out of the precious metal.

Kanye West and Kim Kardashian allegedly spent nearly $1 million on a gold toilet for their Bel-Air pad. Crazy, but not the craziest we've seen or heard of. Earlier this year, an Indian man by the name of Datta Phuge shelled out $250,000 for a gold shirt that took 15 goldsmiths two weeks to make. Still, you'd be foolish to think that's all.

Few things signify wealth and luxury more than gold, and designers and companies alike recognize this. As a result, they have made just about any product imaginable available in gold—sometimes gold with diamonds and even with shavings of a fossilized T-Rex. From chocolates to AK-47s, here are The Most Ridiculous Gold Items You Can Buy.

Gold Toilet

Price: $10 million

Hong Kong-based jeweler Hang Fung Hold Technology made this toilet from 24-karat solid gold, which according to the Guiness Book of World Record is the most expensive loo in the world. Now, sure, toilets are important for obvious reasons, but would you really spend $10 million on one? Maybe when Kanye West and Kim Kardashian are tired of theirs they can upgrade to this. If not them, perhaps Russell Simmons.

OOOMS Staples

Price: 59 euros (about $78)

14-karat gold-plated staples exist, guys. These were created by OOOMS and, apparently, can be applied to just about anything, including clothing, by using a normal stapler. So, if you ever want to stunt on your whole office, feel free to pick these up.

Gold Pills

Price: $425

This one may just be one of the most ridiculous on the list: A pill dipped in gold and filled with 24-karat gold leaf. It was designed by Tobias Wong and Ju$t Another Rich Kid (Ken Courtney) and was part of the "INDULGENCE" collection commissioned by the Museum of Modern Art. The pill doesn't cure any illness, but it does "turn your inner most parts into chambers of wealth" (read: you'll be shitting gold, literally). Hm.

Magniflex pet mattress

Price: $1,000-$3,000

Magniflex started designing gold mattresses for humans early on, but has since produced some for pets after a client requested one for her Maltese. The bedding is threaded with high-quality gold and costs anywhere from $1,000 to $3,000, depending on the size. Apparently, these have sold much better than the ones available for humans. We wouldn't be surprised if Karl Lagerfeld has purchased one for his beloved Choupette—the cat already has an iPad and two maids. What's a gold mattress more?

Goldgenie gold rose

Price: $188

You really want to impress your girl? Give her one of these roses that have been preserved in 24-karat gold, platinum, and resin. According to Goldgenie's website, these flowers will last forever, like your love for her. LOL.

Versace gold-plated AK-47

Price: $9,000

New Yorker Tom Ierna posted this photo of his Versace gold-plated AK-47 on Instagram a little over a year ago. The post received numerous comments, some criticizing Ierna for the way he spends his money and others fascinated by the guy's life. Either way, the kid shocked everyone. We've seen Versace pillows, plates, and towels before, but never this. Guess when you've got that much money you spend it however you choose.

Cocoa Gourmet gold chocolate

Price: $1,250

Of course, food is not exempt from such gold treatments. Cocoa Gourmet's Royal Collection includes a box of 12 chocolates made of gold, diamond, and silver, all of which are edible. At $1,250 those better be life-changing sweets.

Havana cigar

Price: $424

There are, apparently, few things in this world that have not been dipped, covered, and laced in gold. Take this Havana cigar, for instance, which has been preserved in 24-karat gold. But at $424, it seems hardly practical.

XBox 360

Price: $1,100

Okay, this isn't so much ridiculous as it may be excessive. But if you're serious about playing 2K with your boys then this was made for you. Let's just hope your skills are as good as your console will look because gold controllers won't improve your game.

iPad 2 Gold History Edition

Price: £5,000,000.00 (about $8 million)

No, that's not just some gold iPad skin. British designer Stuart Hughes, who's known for creating some of the most luxurious items from yachts to gadgets, took the iPad 2 to the next level by covering the tablet in 24-carat gold weighing in at two kilos. But that's not all. The front of the iPad 2 Gold History Edition, as Hughes named it, is made from 75-million-year-old Canadian Ammolite, the oldest rock in the world, and has shavings from a fossilized Tyrannosaurus Rex. Oh and there are also a bunch of diamons thrown in.

Only two of these were made, and though the price tag isn't exactly pocket friendly, one has already been sold to some guy who probably uses $100 bills to wipe his ass.
