Wayfarers
What it says: The most basic of ocular UV protection. Not that there's anything wrong with that—they're a classic for a reason. But if you're only rocking this one pair all 93 days of summer you're not projecting much in the way of style sensibilities. Your personality could range from ragetastic bro to cynical hipster to classic cool guy, but the day you lose your trusty shades is the saddest day of the summer.
Bucket hat
What it says: Either the tops of your ears are super sensitive to the sun, or you're the last person to move on from a trend (and probably the last to adopt, too). Buckets are cool but let's face it, their twilight is upon them. It's always good to have a dope go-to option for when you're spending a full day in the sun and need maximum protection, but it's a tough item to pull off if you're just trying to casually stunt.
Bright watch
What it says: You're doing a bit too much. It's summer and bright colors are the obvious theme of the season but that doesn't have to extend to everything. A watch shouldn't be about grabbing attention. Go for a grown-man look with a subtle, well-made timepiece and you'll get the appraisal from those who truly know a thing or two about style.
Summer scarf
What it says: This douchebag archetype is in season just like a basket of white peaches. Are you a German tourist? Were you in a horrific knife fight and trying to hide the scarves? Is your Adam's apple terrifying large, or absurdly tiny? So many questions, but almost every time the answer is to ditch this lame-ass accessory.
Streetwear water bottle
What it says: You're a hypebeast wholly committed to every single piece and extension of your lifestyle being on some fly streetwear shit. Something like a Supreme water bottle isn't enough to quench your thirst to cop new jawnz but it will come in handy while you're posted up in those long lines for the latest drop on a sweltering August morning.
Flashy belts
What it says: You are the Birdman of your block, using gaudy name-brand print as a misguided flashing Bat signal of #wealth. You probably tuck your shirt in or drape it awkwardly around the waistband of your pants to flash a belt you dropped an unnecessary amount of money for. All that attention-grabbing and subsequent eyerolls are a good ROI though, amirite?
Print socks
What it says: That necessity of shorts really opens the stage up for socks to flourish in the summer moreso than any other season. As such, most dudes lean towards printed joints to flaunt their swag in yet another accessories area, but it's a slippery slope, like moonwalking in some Nike elites on a newly polished floor. The level of wildness that you ramp it up to is in direct correlation with how much attention you desperately seek because you were a lonely kid with mostly invisible friends.
Pocket square
What it says: You're a true-blue grown-up who still has to rock suits all summer and you're hot (double entendre intended), but damn if you're not going to get into the summer spirit in some way shape or form. A carefully picked, vibrant pocket square is how you stand out among the sea of faceless businessmen. If you think about this too hard, you become sad.
Expensive beach towel
What it says: You're extremely committed to flossing in every accessory arena possible, so in addition to the towel you're probably at the beach with an expensive tote bag, wild luxe sunscreen, and multiple iPads. You are either very rich or very broke.
Beanie
What it says: You're an idiot.
