The Australian-born artist known as Nick Thomm, once regarded as "the poster child for the digitally inclined" by ACCLAIM Magazine, has recently relocated his talents to New York and is now launching his first solo exhibition in the city. "Tropic Glows" presents a large-scale collection of mixed-media works on transparent Perspex, neon kaleidoscopic silk flags, and holographic skate decks, complete with a new series of 3D video works. Created in both New York and Melbourne, the exhibition blends classical Greek art with modernism and digital culture while taking visual cues from pop culture.

Thomm's background as a film director and designer is apparent in the technically exquisite execution of this photography and 3D modeling mash-up. To launch the exhibition, created for a generation that has spent their entire lives being hyper-connected, here's the first look at "Tropic Glows" in the form of this 3D teaser video, inspired by hallucinatory effects.

"Tropic Glows" occupies a two-story space in the heart of the Lower East Side. The first level is a traditional art space while the lower level has been transformed into a fully immersive art experience where his otherworldly video work will come to life via special designed 3D projections and a powerful soundscape.

The exhibition is located at 98 Orchard Street, New York and runs through Nov. 18. Keep up with more developments and future works from Thomm by following him on Instagram, or on his Tumblr.
