Everlane is using Black Friday as a vehicle to raise money for a beautification project at its silk factory in Hangzhou, China. Everlane makes some of the best basics in the business and keeps prices down through total transparency. The brand has actually shut down its online store on Black Friday the last two years to protest the sales that "create a false sense of value."

This year, instead of sitting out the annual day of crazy discounts, Everlane is beginning a new yearly tradition it calls The Black Friday Fund. Everlane will donate all of the profits it makes to one of its factories this year forward. Workers at Everlane's silk factory live on-site, so the factory requested that all donations go to improving employee's lives by greening their recreation area and installing a basketball hoop. Everlane hopes to raise $30,000 by the end of Black Friday this year.

In addition to the tangible benefits for the factories, the project aims to close the distance between brands, consumers, and where the clothes are actually made.

You can track the Black Friday Fund at Everlane's website on Nov. 28.
