For Melo-X, creativity is an evolutionary process. He started out writing poems, which led to writing raps, which led to writing music, which led to DJing and producing, which led him to even designing the packaging for the albums he puts out. It’s fair to say the guy covers a lot of artistic ground.
This versatility was on full display at the G-SHOCK SoHo retail and gallery space, last Thursday, when G-SHOCK and Complex teamed up to present a gallery installation of Melo-X’s work. Guests on hand enjoyed cocktails by 1800 tequila and tracks being spun by DJ Kwasi Fordjour. The event was a dual celebration of all Melo-X encompasses as an artist and the release of the new G-STEEL watch. Like Melo, the G-Steel has a layered structure and a genuine toughness that has only evolved over time.
