Curated by Poesia—the movements founder—Graffuturism details the latest developments among graffiti's most progressive practitioners. The third group show, eponymously titled, opens this week in Los Angeles. bringing together multiple-generations of artists wishing to explore the potential of graffiti technique without the constraints of the figure. They push boundaries and, most important, are not afraid to challenge art historical norms. In contrast to the most prominent street artists—who most often work for immediate reaction—the graffuturists are dedicated to nuanced adaptations of street-born ideas and situating them within the academic canon.
