James Reka, one of Mebourne's most prolific artists and member of the Everfresh Crew, took over Backwoods Gallery last week to show off new works and a retrospective of material from 2004-2006. It was something of a celebration, for RekaOne is on his way to Europe, and a fine send. Reka follows the footsteps of other notable Australians like MEGGS and Kid Zoom (both on our current 25 Most Influential Artists Of 2012 list) in emerging from Down Under to take on the wider art world. We'd place bets of Reka having some success.
