A 23 year old man, John Troy Heitzman, in a silver Pontiac was allegedly talking on a cell phone while he drove at 80kph (about 50mph) in a 30kph zone (a little under 20mph) towards a crosswalk where four kids, ages three to 16 were crossing the street in Alberta, Canada. Luckily, a nearby Hummer driver, Darrell Krushelnicki, physically intercepted the distracted, speeding Pontiac before disaster struck.
For selflessly risking his own life to prevent these kids from getting hit, police are recommending Krushelnicki for citizen award and charging Heitzman with dangerous driving. Seems like the Canucks have everything in order.
